Spinach stories are primarily written for children at key stage one, but will appeal to a broader range of children; and adults.

Younger children delight in the characters, older children love the stories and adults enjoy the humour. All get an enthusiasm for the amazing city of London, which forms a backdrop to the stories. Every story has a map on the back, showing the journey Spinach made. In later stories Spinach discovers other forms of transport as well as buses and due to his curiosity and misadventure finds himself in all sorts of places, in Britain and abroad, including Paris, New York and even in Africa.
